AAM Competition ECU Re-flash for 2002-2003

I may have some good news for 02-03 Maxima guys...

I was researching ECU flashes and discovered that Technosquare used to use something called Techtom to flash their ECUs. Someone on a forum said that AAM uses the same software, so I decided to contact them.

Ironically enough, I was able to meet them first hand at the Nissan/Infiniti shootout. I asked them if they were able to flash our ECUs and the one guy (Brad) said that he would need an ECU to look at before he could determine that. He seemed pretty confident when I told him that Technosquare used to do it though.

I happen to have a spare 02-03 ECU laying around so he told me to mail it to him and he will get back to me and let me know if he can flash it.

Hopefully, we will finally have a way to increase our rev-limiter and timing for those without standalones or piggybacks. Maybe even get some Z33 VTC maps?!

I'll keep you all posted.

LOL.........we Maxima fans like starving dogs waiting for the scraps to fall off the 350z table...lol. This would be an excellent alternative to expensive UTECs, eManages, or Haltechs for people that just have bolt ons and dont want to spend 1000's on these units.

Make sure they are able to adjust cam timing as well........stock cam timing SUCKS on VQ35DE Maximas.....that would be HUGE in itself.

That's good. Did you race your Maxima at the NI Shootout event yesterday?

Na I didn't. There was an all motor 5.5gen running 12.7's at 109 though. Gutted with slicks.

There was an all wheel drive "what looked to be an older altima" thing that was hauling ***. Running mid-high 10's. I think it was a Pulsar or something.

You would have definitely won the all motor class if you went. The fastest all motor cars were going like 12.1. The fastest all motor 350z went 12.7.

Here's what I'm attaching with my ECU when I ship it out tomorrow:

Brad,

I’m the guy you spoke to at the Nissan shootout in Jersey. Here’s the ECU out of a 2002 6 Speed Maxima. It shares a similar casing to the older 300zx ECU’s which could be chipped, but the actual architecture appears to be more similar to that of a 350z (probably most similar to the early Z’s where the ECU had the gray connector). Technosquare used to offer reflashes for these ECU’s, but they are no longer offering that service. They were able to provide two levels of tuning, with the higher level consisting of a re-mapped ETC system, advanced ignition timing, extended rev-limiter (7100 or 7200), AF tuning, and modified VTC maps (they used the VTC maps from a stock 350z I believe).

People from the Maxima community have contacted Up-rev about offering reflashes for the 02-03 Maximas and Altimas, but they claimed that the ECU didn’t have enough memory. They only offer flashes for ECU’s that have the black connector.

There are already 8+ people who are anxious to find out of this can be done and probably at least 20 more on the forum who would be willing to have this done. As of now, there is no easy way to raise the rev limiter or alter the VTC timing on 02-03 Maximas and Altimas without going with a full standalone. Believe it or not, the 02-03 Maxima community is pretty large, so there’s a potential for a decent amount of business.

This particular ECU has a permanent P0605 ROM Failure code as well as a Throttle Position Closed learning failure code. They are the result of me attempting to run the GM LS2 throttle body (my translator circuit malfunctioned). The codes can be cleared but will return as soon as the accelerator is released and the motor idles.

In regards to the throttle body, Uprev offers a special ROM for the Titan which allows them to run the 87mm LS2 throttle body with no translator circuit. If you guys could figure something out with that (how they did it), it would be a plus.

Yeah. I think there was a B13 4cyl running high 11s NA. But I really wanted to make it. I just didn't have enough time. But count me in for next year!

I'd be in for this. I was actually about to make a thread on this subject..... what other options are there for tuning the 02-03 ECU? emanage?safc? Just finished up a vq swap into a specV and will be looking for more power very soon

I've asked several times on the ability to do emulation on the 5 or 5.5 ecu's as an affordable option. Emulation can be done for right at $200 (naturally excluding a laptop and dyno tuning).

Been more than 30 days, shouldn't we know something by now? Even if just simply a "here's what we are looking at and dealing with regarding the ecu and will take X amount more time to address" kind of update?

Maybe the other factor is that TS's owmers were actual OEM ecu programers...like that of JWT are these new guys new at this or what? What's their background?
