would 6th gen springs fit on a 5.5 gen?

Hey guys i know this might seem like a newb question but i was wondering if 6th gen "aftermarket" lowering springs, would be applicable with a 5.5 gen. If you know anyone that has done it please let me know.

That's definitely a newbie question, but never the less. 95-99, 00-03, 04-08, and 09 up. So no it wouldn't be compatible, my guess is because they are very different in weight so that might be the reason. But why would you want to use springs from another generation, to accomplish what?

I can understand if you want to try a transmission or engine but I don't know why you'd want to with springs

If you just have them lying around then try it and see. But as mrjason said, a 6th gen will weigh more...so if they fit then they will be more stiff for a 5th gen and might be 'bouncy'.

I doubt they mount up correctly though.

The rears might be the problem, going from independent to solid beam. Compare the diameter of the springs to the ones on your car.

They might be a tad stiffer, nothing neck snapping though.

Not that far off just quite doesn't cut it man. If you have the time and patients to install them see if it works do it and prove us wrong. But I think it would be a pain to have to remove all four and uninstall them. Good luck though

like i said before before.. im installing them when i get my tein coilovers, so the shocks and springs are coming out anyways. Iwas going to compare and see if the 6th gen springs would fit on the 5th gens. Patience i have but i'm not doing it to prove anyone wrong, i'm actually doing it to see what might be interchangeable between different generations.

The rears will not fit 5.5 gen is springs over a strut the 6th gen the springs and shocks are separate because it has independent suspension. Fronts maybe but you would have to tear em apart to figure outility for sure.

Fishtale is correct. fronts are the only possible swap.

-Rears on 5th gens are a slim spring compressed over a strut that mounts between the body and the rear beam.

-Rears on 6th gens are an independent setup that has the spring sandwiched between the body of the car and a 'banjo' (cradle) that mounts between the rear subframe and knuckle; and the shock is separately mounted between the car and knuckle.

I know this is an old post, but I didn't see back then.

THIS is a post/statement. Most namely because of the types of suspension. As we all know, 95-03 are VERY similar, and with little modification it can and has been done, no matter the weight of the vehicle. That's a spring rate thing. It's more so the type of suspension.

Rear beam = 95-03.
IRS = 04-13.

Fronts are nearly identical.

But I will agree that the original (OP) question was newbie, only because 04+ = IRS. Just because they're different gens, it's not safe to assume, and doesn't mean that much has changed. I've owned both 95 and 03, and they're VERY similar in almost every way.

And, IMO, why not just get the correct set-up for your vehicle.

No.

Rear's have been explained above.

Front's will not fit because the diameter of the spring is much larger than the 5th gens.

I can't believe it took this long for the right answer to surface.
