01 MAF sensor ?
I have read many feeds on the MAF replacement, but I am not sure of this :
my MAF does not have the thermo resistor thingy, can I replace with one that does?
does it matter / will it fit - or work
thanks,
Louied

What do you mean it does not have the thermo resistor thingy? All MAF's have this (it is part of the actual MAF sensor). You have a MAF assembly (tube and sensor) and then the sensor you can buy separately.
See the picture below of my MAF? The MAF sensor is where the electrical connection plugs into. You can take it off with the two bolts, but you need a special torx security bit to remove it. Replacing just the MAF sensor is cheaper than the entire assembly.

I think you are referring to the thin silver resistor. That is on the 02/03 models. It is over $500. The 00/01 do not have that piece. I know you can take the piece from an 02/03 MAF and insert it in the older MAF and make it work in an 02/03. I have never heard of the other way around because....well its a waste of money so noone ever tried.

I haven't seen what you are talking about, but since I have a 2000 it makes sense after 2damax's post. There is no reason you need that for your 2001. If you need a new MAF sensor (why do you think you need one?) then get a replacement 2001 MAF sensor...no need to install an unneeded part that was not designed for your system.

Do yourself a favor and get an OEM nissan MAF assembly. I replaced with aftermarket and lasted a month at best before codes were back. Dying at start up and all signs. Bought a new one off of ebay for $85. My max runs like new again!
