Since you have SE, you should be fine. Tokico makes struts for the some SE's. Tokico, even stock applications, are built to last.

So will aftermarket springs (1.7" drop) wreak havoc on these stock shocks?
What kind of lifespan are we looking at for the stock setup?
my similar question plus a few more

I had my stock struts on for 40K miles. No problems at all. I recently replaced them with Tokico blues and the ride is much smoother than the stock struts. The ride sometimes felt choppy.
1.7" is a decent drop, so it will put more stress on them... life of the stock shocks may go down.... but then again, the springs aren't very stiff, so it may not be so bad....

Did you replace them with Tokico blues because of ride problems or you just felt it was time to go for it?

When you say choppy, is that like "bouncy"? or you just feel all the road impurities more compared to just the 100% plain SE suspension?

So you ran lowering springs on your stock shocks? How long before you noticed it become bouncy?

Mine is bouncy right now. I will get Tokico Blues soon, but i'm also looking into AGX from Cattman. I dunno how the ride quality would be compare to the Tockico blues, because i drove Blues already, but never with the AGX. Anyone out there has AGX adjustables or GR2's yet on a 2000 + MAX?

The ride was fine. I've got a friend of mine that let me borrow his 2K Max with the Eibach/Tokico's and his ride was much smoother than mine (at the time). It's not that my stock struts were bad, I felt it was time to replace them. You can tell when the stock struts are bad when they start to leak. Mine never leaked, just worn out. I guess I could consider myself lucky going over 40K miles on stock struts. If you do just the springs, replace your struts at about 10K miles or so.
At 10k? I've barely gone beyond 5k right now. Changing the struts in less than 5k miles from now sounds bad

oh, btw..it's not just the SE..all Maxima stock shocks are made by Tokico..they're just not the blue or Ilumina...
well..............
i have had my eibachs on for 2500 miles....and i have stock shocks.....the ride is cool......some people actually like the bumpier ride...of course its bumpier than stock..but it aint bad at all......the shocks should last a while...eibachs dont even drop that low
