replacing radiator on 2000Max

I've replaced my g35 radiator, which was easy...Is the Max pretty straight forward? I might not even use the FSM for the radiator change. Is there a coolant bleeder screw somewhere??

Any advice would be helpful

Clyinder block drain plugs? Is it necessary to remove them when draining coolant? FSM also says you need to reseal them??

You don't need to read the manual, it is pretty straight forward. Remove splash shield from underneath engine, remove lower radiator hose, remove radiator cap, remove upper radiator hose, remove the 2 top radiator mounting brackets and remove auto transmission oil cooler lines (if car is an auto) and separate radiator fans from radiator.

There is no bleeder screw. When you refill the radiator, leave the radiator cap off and start the car. When the engine warms up and the thermostat opens, any trapped air will come out. top off the coolant, put on the radiator cap and fill the overflow tank.

As already stated you do not need to use the FSM, Really easy job. I have done it on my 98 and then my 02. I imagine the 00 will not be too different. Good luck!

THIS.....strongly recommended. Dont make sense to have brand new radiator and then a year later thermostat go bad and you have to take EVERYTHING all off again.

Also while you at it get new rubber upper and lower mounts. They are cheap from the dealer.

Yeah man. Dennis said it all. Simple change on my 03. I pulled the drain plug out of radiator and stuck a wedge under the opposite side to get more coolant out. Definitely made less of a mess when I started pulling the hoses loose. If its an auto just check tranny fluid when you're done. You don't lose much when the tranny cooler lines come out but it's a good idea.

just finished replacing the rad in my 02....didn't have to remove the engine shield under the car...just removed the fan mounting bolts/screws and swung the fans up and out of the way (wiring harness still connected)...I did unplug the battery...plenty of room to get at the upper and lower hose clamps and the transmission clamps. replaced the two hoses, used new clamps, and then ran 4 gallons of distilled water through the engine. Very easy to flush. I cut about 6 feet of old garden hose and taped it (duct tape of course, I"m from South Carolina) around the upper hose. let it drain into a 2 gallon bucket...took about 15 minutes...then filled it with anti-freeze. I got the rad from Pep Boys...the drain hole in the rad matched up with the hole in the frame. Based upon other posts the drain holes in the autozone and advance auto rads have the drain holes on the other side.... a week later I was at the dealer getting an oil change and the mechanice said they get their after market rads at 1800Radiator...
I was planning to change out the thermostat but it looked like more work than I and my brother in law wanted to do that day...probably had something to do with the volume of suds we consumed.
hope this helps someone...

noticed the engine cross beam and bumper connection was pretty rusted.
