fixing to go crazy

i think my maxima is on its last leg and its depressing.

the other night i had no first gear or reverse. i rev it to 2k and it finally poped into gear. now i have no 4th. when its shifting it goes 1,2,3, and back to 1st. its pissing me off and its my only car i have to drive and now i cant even go to work or to he bar.

im thinking syncros???? is there any way it could be something else. just curious before i drive it off a cliff. sooo jk.

any help or suggestions would be great

thanks

I would be thinking either a shift solenoid or more likely your torque converter going bad.

Start with the FSM, look for diagnostic procedures to help narrow down the problem.

Have you checked your tranny's fluid level?

are you talking about an auto tranny or manual?

if its auto, as mentioned above, check your fluid level and condition. If fluid is burned and discolored, time for a new tranny. 5th gen automatic trannys are pretty solid but nothing last forever. On a positive note, these trannys are cheap compared to the 6th gen trannys. (automatics)
