2003 Maxima

Question. New to the Forum.

I had a 99' Maxima SE, but Crashed it last year. Now I have a 2001 Acura CL Type S, but don't really like it. Want to go back to the Maxima (was my baby). What does the 2003 Model Look Like. Are they offering more HP since the Altima has stepped up to higher HP? Any links or info on the 2003 would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard!

I don't believe there are any factual stats, descriptions, or pictures on the 2003 Max yet. There are rumors that it might be redesigned with a V8 engine and RWD...but again, those are just rumors.

awsker is right. there are no for-sure facts on the2003 maxima. i dont know if you are aware that the 2002 maxima has 33 more HP (255)than the 2001 and 2000 models (222) because of the altima also moving up to 240 HP.

It's just not the Maxima. I loved my Maxima. The CL is really nice, but to me it's just okay. The Manual Tranny is a Really Big Deal on it though. But I am hoping that Nissan will make the Maxima more than 255 HP like it is now. It's not special as much now that the Altima is 240HP. I do like the 350Z and as soon as a Release Date is Set to Test Drive. I will probably get that. I always loved the 300ZX. Just wish the 350Z was a Convertable, or that the top came off. Any ideas on that ???

THe press release mentioned the posability of a convertable 350Z later on.

Yeah, convertible is coming a few months after (I think). What about the G35? Don't like that one? Suppose to have manual too I think(in like a year though).

The Next Generation Maxima will be on the Altima platform and will be built in the US...that is definate! What isn't known for sure is if it will have optional AWD or a V8. If they keep the 3.5L I would expect the horsepower to be at (or close to) whatever the 350Z ends up with.

Production of the 6th Generation Max isn't even supposed to start until Jan 2003! 2004 will be the first year for the all new 6th Gen. Will probably be released in mid year 2003. I am sure I read this official information somewhere...someone correct me if I am wrong.

Yoour right about everything you mentioned. I suspect that the 2003 maxima (released Fall 2002 made in Japan) will be the "limited Edition," 5th gen. Maxima, and that mid-2003 they will release the 2004 6th gen. Maxima. Nissan always does a limited edition car the last year of that gen. production cycle.

I saw these pics of what 2003 Max will look like.
http://thehollywoodextra.com/maxima/maxima.html

You can also go to that site (in french)
French web site about Renault-Nissan 2000-2002 production and look at the I30 (they state that the US Max for summer-end of 2002 will have a 3.5L) so I guess same engine, maybe an enlarged new Altima platform....

We'll see in a few months....

That Opel looks nasty. Is that a hatchback, or is there just zero trunkspace?
