considering used engines

I apologize in advance for asking if there are posts/threads that answer my question, I did do a quick search and didn't see anything right away. I'm considering, when my current '03 Maxima engine decides to be replaced, a used Nissan engine and wanted to get some feedback on anyone having any experience, good or bad, going that route instead of getting a new or remanufactured engine. My Maxima is still in very good condition and I'm wanting to keep it around for a lot longer if I can, I'm pushing 200K and not having any issues right now, but I want to plan ahead and consider the options. Thanks.

Dont get a used 02-03 one get like a 05-08 Maxima, or Quest, or Altima Engine, depending on where you are at they can run pretty cheap or hella high, Im at 162K might be looking to switch out some time next year..slight oil burner..

get a 08 engine! fits right in and its the newest you can go without major modifications

I am getting 05-06 vq35 for my 02 maxima. But Altima, Quest, Maxima vq35s will all work. Avoid 02-03 because they burn oil. 09 and above will require a lot of modification to fit in the 5.5 shell.

are the 04-08 known to burn oil? if my engine ever bust i dont know if i will even do a swap -_- id probably part it out and get myself a s2000 or g35 coupe

i have swapped hundreds of used engines on different makes/models. Nothing to be affraid of as long as you do your research. I always try to find the lowest mileage possible for the money. Might help to do all the current tsb's on a used engine.
