Power steering pressure hose

I read up on my leaky power steering hose before buying aftermarket or OEM. I was definitely not considering the aftermarket hose considering the consensus that it would whine. I also saw several posts about getting the hose repaired by a hydraulic hose repair shop. Although I didn't go through all 50 pages of people saying the same thing I didn't see any negative comments about this method. I went to my local hydraulic repair shop and got them to repair my hose, it didn't leak but it was not a method I would recommend. Not only did I have the whine that you aftermarket hose buyers had I also had a bizarre vibration when making sharp turns... It shook the whole car. Not only that, the installation was definitely much more difficult due to the lack of pliability of the hydraulic hose. I can't guarantee that every hydraulic repair shop will use the same hose or method, but in my case it just plain didn't work. I spent an extra 50 bucks due to this but in the long run it was a cheap lesson learned. Stick with OEM pressure hose and you will be nothing but satisfied.

Thanks for the heads up. Just had mine done at a dealer about a month back. I think I paid about $360 total. No problems since.
