Issue with HID Fog Light Color

So I bought an 3000k fog light setup from TRS a few months back. I've been running into this issue ever since install. I'm running a relay for the fogs and there color on the passenger side seems to be more of a halogen bulb color. Thought it was a bad bulb so they sent me a new one. Just realized it's still like this a few nights ago. Any suggestions what I can do to fix this? This side always seemed to flicker a bit too. This is the first time I've installed with relays before so maybe I over looked something obvious. Here's a pic from the first time this happened just to get a visual.Name: IMAG0424.jpg

I don't see why your relays would make a difference in color. Try swapping your bulbs and see if the colors swap. If they do then it's the bulb. If it doesn't, then you might try replacing the ballast. I don't know if it helps at all but DDM Tuning has a huge disclaimer on their site that they won't guarantee perfectly matching colors on a set of bulbs. Of course that seems way off so I don't know.

Just wanted to cover everything again this is the first time I've done a relay setup so I'm not sure if that could pose a problem. I'll snap another pic tonight because it wasn't as bad and this happened with both bulbs. First time with 50 watt ballasts because I screwed up the order and then had the bulb replaced.

Is this a common issue with TRS fogs?

Not that I heard of to be honest. I've heard nothing but positive things about them. My headlights are perfect. Not a single problem. I don't think grounding would be an issue right? The color being off would either have to be a ballast/bulb issue but both were replaced.

Well I switched the ballast and then called them. They said it's probably a bad bulb. Got that sent out and then exchanged the 50 watt ballasts for the 35. Just realized a few days ago it went back to more of a halogen bulb color yellow than then 3k yellow. I'll take another picture tonight because I don't think it's as bad as the first time.

here is a pic I took for fun that night my buddy pointed it out to me. It's a tad more noticeable in person and a lot more noticeable when you look at the light on the ground. I'll get a pic of that tonight. Maybe I set something up wrong. I could provide pics of the wiring if needed...

So let me get the sequence of events straight. You installed the system and one bulb was off on the color. You didn't like the 50W ballasts either so you called and swapped the ballasts and the one bulb at the same time? If that's the case then maybe burning the one bulb at 50W (even for a short time) made a difference. I don't think your wiring is an issue. They'd either work or they wouldn't. Maybe try two fresh bulbs and see if they burn proprly when starting both at 35W. Might even try to find a pair of 2500k if you're going for that deep yellow look.

Yes that's correct. So the driver side bulb is the original bulb I bought and was used with both the 50 and 35 watt. Looks how I want it. The passenger side is the one that was the one replaced and still is slightly off. I'm thinking about maybe going 5000k with the fogs to match the headlights so I think I'd do that if I end up buying a new set.

You probably won't be unhappy. I bought a set of 6000K for my fogs and at the same time a set for the headlights from the same place. I figured that was the best way to get the color matched the closest.

Thank you for sharing it looks really clean when they match. Definitely won me over haha here's how they look now, not as drastic but noticeable.

Yeah, it is definitely a different color. If you plan on changing them to match the headlights though, I'd just live with it until then.

That's the plan, may as well get my money's worth. I got other things I want to do first. Like I said it doesn't look as bad as the first pic so it's definitely doable for now.

Its the bulbs, ballasts have nothing to do with it. Coating on the bulbs is not even.

The bulbs depend on the output of the ballasts and bulb type (d2s, etc)

Is it me, or are your headlights a nit more white and less blue than the fogs?

I have the same set-up, and notice the fogs are a bit more blue. So I went ahead and bought some 5k fogs, vs the 6k, hoping to install soon and hoping for a better match.

Hmm so is it possible it can be a connection issue ? Taking out these fogs aren't fun especially when lowered .my last action would be to test the bulbs independently if you guys take a look at the first post in this thread I am having the same exact issue op says fixed fogs but never states what or how https://maxima.org/showthread.php?t=665304&page=18

I had the same set up Nmexmax at my fogs were slightly bluer than the headlights 6k top n bottom

I would just suggest you buy a better quality kit and install it. It's most likely the bulb but for the price of two bulbs (you want to replace them in pairs), you should just get a whole kit.
