I'd just go to the dealer (or call) and give them your VIN number. Im sure they can figure out the bodyline.

Im sure someone here will have a better answer for you though .

Wondering the same thing, because mine says SE but I didn't get the BOSE 6 disc cd changer, or the 17's.

Look at the vehicle identification plate that is under the hood. It is on the firewall, driver's side but close to the center of the car.

Look at the identification number (ID#), not the VIN number. The 6 character from the left will tell you. If you have an SE, the 6th character will be either a T or a V.

Also, if the gauges in the instrument cluster are white, you have an SE (if no one has changed them).

Code:

That's some of the differences between the SE-L and the SE-S models.

yeah, thats how they look. the car is white with tan cloth interior and no sunroof and no bose audio. it doesnt have SE wheels or the SE tail l ights so from outside it looks liek a regular max that probally had the trunk swapped out from an SE.

From the outside, the only visible difference is the spoiler. So you could have an SE. Taillights for 2002 and 2003 are all the same.

He means, that some trunks have the SE spoiler & badging, and others don't.

No... the spoiler could be had on the other models as an option. Same for fog lights, which were standard on the SE and GLE, but optional on the GXE. Then there are the 17" SE rims.

But really, the only visible difference on the SE is the the body-colored door handles. The GLE and GXE had chrome handles.

Wait, your Maxima is a 6MT? Then you have the SE model.

Yes. They used a 5MT for the 5.0 gen, with a mechanical linkage. For the 5.5 gen, they moved up to the 6MT, with a cable linkage.

The point here is that for 2002-2003, the 6MT was an option only on the SE model.

Let's recap:

manual transmission
body-colored door handles
silver gauge cluster
rear spoiler
fog lights

All that, and a big old "T Y" in your VIN... you own a Maxima SE.

You also have a 23mm front sway bar, but it's not like you're going to get under and measure that puppy!

sweet. so the SE's have better suspension? the car handles real good. i use to own a contour SE v6 with a 5 speed and it rode soft as hell had to upgrade struts, springs and sway bar. this car stock seems to handle better. first thing i need to do though is change the spark plugs, i think they are due to be changed.

Yes. The SE came with Tokico Struts and a thicker FSB. But that's it.

And I'm done. Welcome the Org. Enjoy your car.
