PLEASE HELP ! 02 Maxima Trip computer not working
Oka, so i bought my maxima about 2 months ago and im totally in love with my car. However , this problem is really frustrating me to a point that im just out of options so PLEASE if you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
When i originally got the car it had an after market stereo and obviously the controls on the wheel were not working, so i went and got the original Bose unit and installed it. now the strange part is that the volume controls are back to work however my trip button is STILL not working , i opened everything back again and checked the wiring everything seems to be inplace . i also checked the brown and white wire that is supposed to be grounded incase you put the after market unit again , seems just fine.
Anyone has any idea what might be the problem here ????!!
Thanks in advance =)

First off, welcome to the forum and thanks for searching before posting.
Okay, now does the trip computer work at all? Is there a display or is it just the button not working? If it's just the button not working then 99% of the time it will be a bad ground connection on that wire you've already mentioned. It should be pin 11 of the 16 pin connector on your Bose stereo. It may have a bad connection or it may have been cut before the connector...double and triple check this.
If you are absolutely sure that that has a good chassis ground (I'd check with a multi-meter), then you will need to follow the troubleshooting procedure in the FSM. If you don't have one you can download it here... http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/2002/
Should start on page 130 of the electrical section (EL).

Or the actual button doesnt work, it happens. I replaced that small part of buttons on the steering wheel cause my volume UP button didnt work, i opened it just for kicks and found traces of soda inside. Very simple to replace 5 minutes and $25 used switch online.
P.s. Open up the new one and clean it out before installing so the buttons are not sticky
