I recently was in an accident and had my car repaired at a body shop. One thing I remember him mentioing was the air bag sensor was literally 'gone'.

so now I'm trying to find one online and got a couple of questions. By the way this is the sensor in the front of the car, at the center of the nose kind of.

On car-part.com I found an air bag sensor, but I believe it said Left hand or Right hand. How many sensors are supposed to go here, I thought it was just one?

Are there any alternative names to this? In the front it looks like all I have is some sort of wire with a connector at the end of it I don't think I see a second one anywhere near it, just one.

Called a 'Crash Zone Sensor' by the Factory Service Manual. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/i30/2001/

You only have one front air bag sensor. You were likely looking at Side Air Bag sensors as side air bags were optional. It looks like there are two possibilities depending on when your car was built. You may want to ask a dealer what part number you need.

Most likely the first one.
