My(possible) New Maxi

Ok, so im sure a few of you have noticed my car is for sale in the classifieds because I want a 5 speed. Well I have found one in my area so tell me what you think. He says its a rebuilt title because a tree branch fell on the hood and it had to be replaced. I ran the Carfax and it shows a collision but no accident reported.

Dude you are so confusing.

One minute you can't figure out what to do with $200 and won't have money like that again ever any time soon, and now you're buying/switching to another car?

It's all good, just ****ing confusing.

Mileage has been verified, but I have yet to see it. I looked up the power steering leak and it seems like the high pressure hose is probably the culprit. $120 part from Dave B and 2 hours of work. I was thinking of offering $3200 cash. Maybe less because its a rebuilt

Tree branch falling on the hood totaled the car? Hard to believe... Unless it took out the fenders, headlights, bumper, windshield etc...

Replacing a 13 year old sedan with a nearly identical 13 year old sedan, just so you can have a manual transmission? If you're solid on the 5th gen Maxima, then your upgrade path is to a 5.5 Gen 6MT.

Better the devil you know.

There are literally NO 6mt in dallas under 160k miles. NONE, believe me I looked. My parents arent willing to let me buy a high mileage car even though I told them if it was cared for it really doesnt matter... what can you do?

You wait, that's what you do. In the meantime, you've got a car you like well enough. I know you're young, but step aside for a minute and ask yourself if you should be chasing down something constrained by parental permission. Which is OK... respect your folks first.

Anyway, that's really what I mean by waiting.

Man, I gotta stop reading your threads.

x2.... besides whose to say that by the time you sell your car, if it even sells, that the one you have your eye will still be available? Just chill for a minute and stop trying to rush into things.

I'd say step back and take a breather.

If I was your age (16) again, I'd be trying to get a b/j from the cute blonde that sits next to you in your home economics class. But that's just me...

Yall sound like my friends lol "Man ryan, why do your parents limit you on all this sh*t?" Its just how they are, and im very lucky they are letting me sell my car for another. Which is why if I wait, the value of my car goes down as the miles go up and they could just decide to change their mind. SOOO, im jumping on it. You adults wouldn't understand... just kidding

Wow, look at that. Grey Lustre with Frost Leather, 6MT and HLSD too! Kind of pricey, but still... doubt there's much rust being Houston and all. That's a great find if it's on the up & up.

That's a perfectly straight, 700 mile road-trip down Interstate 30. Not at all unreasonable. Bus tickets and one overnight.

I took the early morning train, then drove 400 miles home, all in one day when I bought my G. Heck of an adventure.

nope, selling it as is. I'll have a thread soon. Im moving to Hawaii and the Army will only ship one vehicle and the max will be sold because it's 2500
to ship any additional vehicles.

I've made the trip many times from Central Texas to Ft Campbell. From Dallas to Kentucky is about a 9 hour car ride. Very doable

Anyways, OP don't rush it, I know how it can be to want to get this, that and the other. I was like that when I first got my supercharger. Slow it down and think about it.

I buy alot of totaled vehicles, sometimes what an insurance company will total one for is crazy, so i can believe a tree branch would total one to the right adjuster, i just picked up a 94 accord with 45,000 miles for $500 because the front bumper cover is scuffed up, the fender is damaged, and both park/turn signal lights are damaged.

a 2000 maxima with 90k miles, in the condition that car appears to be in is probably worth 2,800-3,200 with a reconstructed title.

im going to have right around $3500 in my 2002 SE 6MT with every options except nav and HLSD, i bought it totaled for $2400, then paid $700 for a parts car (2001 model) with an engine fire, got all the parts i needed, and ive broken even on the parts car.

Especially if it has a V2 supercharger kit those go for about 1500 or more depending on the condition any pics of the engine bay....

This is a 16 year old kid in high school. He doesn't have time for all of that. He needs reliable transportation and hopefully get good enough grades to graduate so he can be a productive member of society in a couple of years.

I'd say keep what you got. Most teenagers are stuck with riding the bus to school. Be thankful you have a car to drive and your parents are cool enough to trust you with it. My g/f's 16 year old son doesn't even have his driver's license because he acts very immature for his age and is very irresponsible, and his mother doesn't trust him.

Dude Im 16 too, I know it can be hard to control yourself when it comes to cars, but don't you have to learn to hold back. Dudes over here telling you to buy an 8k car when you only have 4k. It's easy for them to say and do, but being 16 coming up with 4k extra is no joke unless your one of those "get money Boyz" lol

But honestly, isn't your bumper fcuked ? focus on fixing that and getting your car sold first before jumping on another car. My parents don't care what I do with buying/selling cars, as long as it's my earned money, I'm safe, dont kill anyone, and keep their insurance rates from rising.

If I was you, I would sell my car and wait for the perfect 5spd/6spd with all the options I want to come around and buy it.

If you don't have time at 16 to fkuc with cars, you won't ever have time.

The most free time I've ever had was when I was 16-22. I cannot imagine I'll have that much free time again until I'm 50+ at least.

And RC, I'd suggest you don't complain, your parents are helping you at all? You're lucky.

I bought every one of my 25 cars with my own money, fixed them with my own money, and sold them to upgrade step by step. 16 with a Maxima is pretty damn good, don't try and rush to modify or upgrade dude, chances are you still have a few good accidents ahead of you, no point wasting money on a nice car or modifications yet.

Rootbeer... go with T_Behr's advice and take that cute blonde out on a nice date!! Maybe it will keep you off the forums for a couple hours so you can quit starting random threads about your snobby, rich boy attitude.

Keep your maxima, spend the $200 on whatever you were about to buy, save yourself some stress, make some money and buy a 5.5 in the near future...
