All these damn people think they are so smart after changing out a water pump or something, and all of a sudden you're a car god.

still hoping someone with a hookup from Nissan can get me my estimate though.
Why not just go to Nissan and buy a brand new MOTOR, should be less than 4,000 but if you are doing a rebuild at 100k, might as well slap some forged pistons and rods, cams and what not, Im at a 165,000 miles with a oil burner Im sure you are good for another 100k easily with that motor, so do your 100k Tune Up and keep rolling......

nice website, 6k for a brand new bare block, mighty expensive, but nice to know either way, well ok, i'll see what I can do. For everything looks like it would be less expensive to just buy a brand new motor from Nissan.

Why not just go to Nissan and buy a brand new MOTOR
Well from the looks of the pricing for brand new parts, it probably would be easier to just buy a brand new motor from Nissan and put it in, with a auto transmission.

O well, Ill see what I can do.

Stop asking stupid questions about quotes... if you want to find the price call Nissan dealers around you... but honestly based on your comments so far I don't thing you should attempt on even removing a bolt on your car... so what you wanna spend 12K on parts for a car that has already had 100K plus on it so be it, its your money its your life. I don't think you have the smallest idea on what amount of work will be involved for all the parts you wanna replace... countless hours of frustration, busted knuckles and tears so you can have a reliable daily driver... I do understand the idea and need for having a reliable car but you are just being stupid and immature... So what you gonna drive while you are preforming the "rebuilt" of your maxima? Instead of staring threads like this do a research online on why engines fail? How to fully rebuild an engine from scratch and so on... EDUCATE YOURSELF!!! I know I said that before and many other members here told you: "you have 100K on your engine... that is basically a 3rd of its life"
Do you know how many people here with 5th gen wished they had a car with 100K on it???

You wanna have a reliable daily that is turn key ready? Here buy this:
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...&&aff=national

At this point this is lowest mileage Maxima out there...

Mods? can we kick these flamers out of my thread, they serve no purpose towards the topic. The topic, is how much for brand new: (just the parts, I want to install everything myself)

- VQ30DE-K Engine
- 2001 auto transmission out of a GLE.
- BOSE premium sound /w subwoofer package
- Fresh paint
- New mats and carpet
- GLE 7 spoke rims /w tires
- HID lights and fogs
- SE suspension
- Navigation?
- SE body kit?

Roll it till you hit 200k, are you going to do any aftermarket parts like Headers Exhaust or anything....
Maybe some rims, sound, tint, but probably no mods.

If we can get an accurate quote from someone who works at Nissan that would be great. This is most of what I need to restore my car.

So this car is just your daily ride, gets you from Point A to Point B, if so no need for engine or transmission, if you are under a 100k miles, SE Suspension upgrade Coilovers, Bose sound **** thats a waste same money better system like Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, or whatever, Navigation part of the system in Dash Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine. And SE dont come with a body kit maybe you talking about a AE Body Kit Rims get some Infiniti G35 7 spokes, paint find a local show and get a price, carpet clean the **** and order new mats.....

Just trying to get the car back to brand new, everything factory, thats the goal here. I tried calling Nissan, and the guy was not able to give me a price quote on a new engine, just a rebuilt one. Thats why i'm asking on here. Just emailed courtesy Nissan and hopefully they give me a accurate price quote for the parts and i'll post the total if I can get one out of them.

.....yea because your long winded explanation as to what the **** you're trying to do makes a whole lot more sense...

...complaining about 6k for a new engine block and then turns around and wants to dump 12k into a 13 year old car...

i wish the org. had a smack down thread.

are you guys seriously having a hard time figuring out what it is i'm trying to do to my car? how many days will it take for you to figure it out? or have you finally figured it out, but now your just sitting there day in and day out and trying to increase your e-gangsta..

i'm out of this thread, don't feel like getting banned because some e-thugs came and it took them a week to figure out what the hell restoring a car means, and they felt stupid and tried to cover there tracks and got caught, not one person is able to give me a price quote out of the 300 people that viewed this thread.. hahahaha

raise up your e-hammers again, and start a movement to ban lazy for trying to figure out the cost of restoring his Maxima to brand new. If the stupidity in this thread increases one more percent, it will be uninhabitable by human beings old enough to read.

What kind of car do you have? saw under your name you have a 96 Nissan Maxima, if you mean for this car, then the best thing to do would be to just give it a tune up, balance it, overhaul it if you have to and do the simple bolt ons. If you must do a swap, then I guess the 'best' thing to do would be to get the newest engine with the most hp out of a 7th gen and attempt to swap it in.

u can get any motor from 02-08 less miles the better,or buy the cheapest block u can find and rebuilt it (only) if ur doing 3.0 timing, also if u go the low mileage route u should change all the seals and get some vitton valve seals its for oil burning.better than oem absorbs more heat.

Ok but seriously why not just shop around for a low mileage auto se (they won't be that hard to find) And buy it then sell your maxima?

Because I wouldn't learn how to tune/overhaul/balance an engine by just buying a new car..

BTW, the guys from courtesy NIssan are working on my price list. It's taking a long *** time though...

*by now if you haven't figured out im trying to restore my car to brand new to learn how to restore a car to brand new your dumb. Otherwise, you figured it out and are just being plain gay and upping your post count like the true e-thug you really are inside.. ahahaha

....i swear this guy is comedy. talking about restoring a 13 year maxima. by the way he talks, you'd think we're all missing out on a great restoration adventure to which at the end, wind up with the maxima of all maxima's.

now if your talking about restoring a classic mustang, 70's datsun 710, 60-70's camaro, im totally on board because in the end you're left with a car that has value, appeal and sense of accomplishment.

OPs logic is the same as dumping $1000 into a Pentium 1 computer just to "learn" how to work on a computer.
