Strange Gear / Air Conditioning Issue

Hi,

I tried searching the forums but I was unable to find any other post with similar issues.

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima. The car runs perfectly fine normally. However on a hot day when I use the Air Conditioner quite heavily, at some point, the car stops changing gears. The car seems to be in the first gear and just revs without changing gears.

If I pull the car off to the side, let it cool down and start it up again, everything is back to normal and I can drive again.

I have had a mechanic inspect the transmission and also replace the transmission oil so I believe that's not an issue.

Anyone have any ideas or even suggestions as to what I can check to identify the problem?

get a new transmission filter and all new fluid. Also replace the speed sensor or whatever the sensor is that goes into the tranny

sounds like its overheating or low on fluid, or the fluid is still bad
(cant trust mechanics words!!!)

cam and crank sensor would be next if the above doesnt work id say
