Tint VS Radar Detectors

This question is for those of you who have a Valentine One and your window's tinted. I already have a Valentine One (love it!) and I'm about to get my window's tinted. But I've read and heard that your radar perfomance will dramatically decrease with tint, especially if the tint has metallic in it ...obviously. Has anybody had a big problem with this? If so, what brand and % of tint.

From what I know, most places do NOT use the metallic tint anyway, and unless you had your heart set on metallic tint, you wont get it. If you really do want the metallic tint, just don't put it on the REAR window so the rear sensor on the V1 will not be affected. Regular tint does not affect the V1 in any way.

I seem to remember that regular tint affects the V1 too. Anthony posted links from the Valentine site about this a while back.

I may stand corrected, you are correct Paul. Check out this link:

There are other factors that can affect the performance of the V1 however. I have not had any problems with my V1 and my window tint on the back window, as far as I know!

tint will kill laser detection performance ... that said ... if u get a warning 4 laser .. it's usually 2 late & u r sol ...
now with radar ... radar bounces arounds .. it's not at all like laser which is a direct beam ... so ... radar will bounce off things in front of u .. behind u .. whatever ... so it'll hit the front of your detector on your front window .. which has no tint ...
I have the Bel 980
