YES anothah VIAS question?!?!?!?

Ok so I have completed the install of my NWP VIAS BOP in hopes it would rid the pending p1800 code and random power cut out on WOT. Well it didnt, the issue is still there along with the random P0340 CMPS code.

I went ahead and tested the VIAS solenoid and it does in fact click when power is applied, the connection is good and clean. Ive searched the forum high and low and seems like quite a few people have the issue but no one seems to have posted a resolution to it.

replace cam sensor and makes sure its got a new gasket

this wont help the VIAS code, but will fix the power issue in my beliefs

codes ALWAYS trigger for a reason. if its saying cam sensor.. you should REALLY check that first

Ok so I replaced my Cam Pos sensor and that code has been gonzo. Ive had the p1800 come up not and then but today a situation came up that made me realize i gotta hunt this issue down. I was merging onto the highway and I had to give it WOT to get with traffic and as i was merging into it the damn car falls into limp mode....I was somewhere between 50-60 mph and RPMs where bet 5-6K (I was paying too much attention to the traffic) But none the less if I didnt put the car into the grass I would have been takin out by some little girl talking on her cell while driving daddys escalade.

Also to it out of limp mode all i have to do it turn the ignition off for maybe 5-7 seconds. (however long it take for the security light to begin blinking) The code will remain in the computer but will run fine. And when the code is there....I will have NO SES light.... Its like a ghost code.... and only pops up when it goes into limp mode from the driving situation where I'm at low speeds and accelerating with WOT!

So I want to purchase a VAIS solenoid as long as your positive it was fine when it was removed, just PM me a price shipped to 02649. I have PayPal ready for the right price.

Check car-part.com first. Also, hate to say it but the FSM has the diagnostic procedure for DTC 1800, what are your results from doing that procedure?

I'm also getting some power loss but 0 codes, I think my main cat is all broken up causing an exhaust blockage that comes and goes.

Ok so Ive narrowed it down to the solenoid. I went through the FSM trouble shooing steps and step 6 revealed that there is never any flow between port A&B and always from A&C. So lets try a replacement and go from there.

Fml.... The code is gone after replacing the solenoid, but the car still goes into limp mode when having to get on wide open throttle. But with no codes now!!!!!!! No ses light and no ghost codes. What the hell could it be?

my old car would blow the ECU fuse whenever revved over 5K

it was the internal voltage regulator in my alternator. it fried like an egg.

replaced alt and the issue stopped

maybe try disconnecting your alternator harness, take her for a drive to see

Did you ever get a SES light?????? I had someone tell me something that made good sense, tell me if it make sense for our cars.

-When we have electrical failure we get SES lights.
-So im experiencing some type of failure and not getting a SES light!
-Therefore it must be some type of mechanical failure.
-It was expressed to me that it could be the main catalytic converter (possibly slightly clogged so that when im between 4500 & 5000 RPMs it causes a backup!?)

So if i were to cut out the main cat would that throw a SES light? They dont test emissions by the exhaust here in MA. they only plug in the obd2 machine and look at that info so Im not worried about that part of removing the cat.

Ok so I resolved the issue for free!!!!!! But I expect to happen again. It was the ****ty auto zone MAF. I went down after work and exchanged mine under warranty and BAM... Now it runs like the day I bought it. So it's time to move forward from here. Plugs and nwp spacer kit on my to do list. Just saving $$ for another week or two.

You didn't buy the OE 2000-2001 MAF and transfer over the IAT wire? There's a thread for that, just search.

I was very new to the forum and the car itself. I wasn't comfortable working on it like that then. If it came to it now I would do it.

Yea I think that autozone MAF is only a matter of time before it craps out again. Buy an OE MAF next time and they sell the IAT sensor online for like .88 cents I got like 10 of em just for the future.

Yea I talked to the manager there and he said if this one fails I can get my $ back. Told him I'll be forced to buy OEM. Just not good for the car for it to be constantly crapping out like this.
