Upgrading Muffler/Exhaust ... Need help

Was looking through the numerous threads about this topic but couldnt find the exact one pertaining to what I'm looking for. I'm new at this so forgive me

First, I have a 02 max SE w/ a stock exhaust. I want to change it to sound something similar to a V8 growl but not sure if I need to look for a exhaust or muffler when it comes to this.

I looked on eBay but not too sure if I would be buying the right thing. I'm looking for a streamlied muffler tip if possible (similar to the SRT8 Grand Cherokee)

It's a V6, it will never have a V8 growl.

But, I agree, Cattman seems to be a good place to go. Then again, it's up to you, there are plenty of companies on the market.

I honestly don't get how you can make the sound of a V8 from a V6 with just a change of headers and/or muffler, I even hear guys saying removing their pre-cats will give them the sound of the G35 or 350Z, LOL. To accomplish anything other than a loud annoying sound from a V6 will require you to spend a ton of cash, but trying to acquire a sound of a V8 with no actual performance is just impossible. Do your research and look at some youtube videos before you go out and buy something you might not be happy with. Your car will be loud or unable to pass emissions trying to accomplish this

I believe Cattman only needs 1 more order to go into production. He makes the best quality exhaust components for our generation out there. Trust me man you wont be sorry

You can go the inexpensive route with the SR*S. It's a quality product but does not offer the 3" and the resonator is a shorty which gives a little rasp.

Edit- I must admit, that 3" Cattman sounds damn good; and it does produce a little more power. But(for me) it did not warrant spending $500 more.

This might be a good opportunity to update the sound clip thread.

You're right, you'll never get a V-6 to sound V-8, but, you can get kinda close! My Tacoma sounded pretty badass with only a flowmaster, no headers. So, with a little money, and prolly a lot of playing around with resonators and mufflers (more money) I'm sure it can get pretty close. It'll be a pretty expensive endeavor, though.

No direct offense meant, could be the vid, but that sounds awful. Seems to be the same with all srs exhausts, good quality for the money but its definitely a cheap fart can muffler, and it sounds like it. I almost bought one but planned on swapping the muffler for just that reason

In the video it only had a 3" cat back to a flowmaster and a short ram intake, now I gutted my 2 pre cats and it got a lot throatier and a little deeper, Ill take a video when I get a chance but school and this cam job on my bimmer project car are consuming my life.
