Cleaning up oil on electrical connector

I was changing the oil in the I35 today and when I was refilling the oil in the crankcase, some spilled down onto the colored (forgetting which it is) electrical connector that leads into the alternator. I tried using a paper towel and was only able to get some off, as most of it collected into the connector's crevices near the wires. Can I just use some MAF cleaner to remove the oil/grease, or do I need to go out and get some electronics contact cleaner? They are both safe for plastics and I'm just trying to squirt away a little oil.

You can use the MAF cleaner, it won't be a problem. In fact you can use any cleaner that will cut grease.

Electrical contact cleaner would definitely be the wrong thing. It is made to dissolve corrosion on metal contacts for a better connection. Repeated use of contact cleaner on electrical parts will destroy them because it eats the metal.
