DLC connection issues

My check engine light recently came on, so I went over to O'Rileys to use the OBD-II scanner, and it wouldn't connect. The guy said it was the cigarette lighter fuse but my siriusxm radio is powered by that so I know that's not the issue. Any suggestions?

Your first post!

Welcome to the org!!

I say go somewhere else, and try again.
I don't see how in the world your 12v accessory fuse would cause a failed read.
Were you operating the scanner, or the employee?
Just leave your ID and do it yourself if it was them.
Or...you can get yourself one for around $40 for driveway diagnosis.

I did it myself, turned key to the on position, made sure the connector was in right all that multiple times. Gave up and had the guy try with the same result. I might take a ride to autozone and try there, otherwise I will troubleshoot it in my schools auto shop.

Update: Went to Autozone, ran the scanner and it worked fine. Had P0325 Knock sensor, not going to worry about that, and P1491 vacuum cut valve/ vacuum cut valve bypass valve, not sure if I should worry or not.

The P0325 likes to show up with other codes, it isn't necessarily valid.

The P1491 could be either of those 2 valves. They function in parallel.
Possible Causes:
Vacuum cut valve bypass valve
Vacuum cut valve
Bypass hoses for clogging
EVAP control system pressure sensor and circuit
EVAP canister vent control valve
Hose between fuel tank and vacuum cut valve clogged
Hose between vacuum cut valve and EVAP canister clogged
EVAP canister
EVAP purge port of fuel tank for clogging

I have tried different scanners on Nissan and Infiniti; the cheaper ones won't connect.
