trunk valet switch lock

I've been trying to figure out how to lock my trunk. I I don't want the switch in the door to work and I have read many threads about the trunk valet switch on the trunk latch mechanism but I guess everyone knows how to use it because nobody explains how to use it.
Anyways I've been trying and can't figure it out can somebody tell me what I have to do to lock my trunk? I've been looking at the valet lever on the trunk and it doesn't move or anything plz help

I think beneath the latch is a lever that goes up and down. When down, the trunk can only be opened manually by a black key (red key is valet). When up, you can open with either key or the switch on the door.
