Monroe Quick Strut on an SE

Is there any reason that the Monroe Quick Strut wouldn't work for my 2002 SE 6MT? I went on a couple websites while cross shopping, and they said that the Quick Strut was not compatible...

Just for reference, I am on stock suspension (blown shocks) with Eibach springs (previous owner put springs on 140k suspension). I really just want the car to be back to stock and ride like a 4 door family car that hauls a little a$$. I used to have an S2000, and I'm pretty much over the harsh riding, corner carver car. Plus, California roads are fairly punishing.

Idk about Monroe Quick Struts but I've seen threads with people using Monroe Sensatracs with no problems.

monroe's own website will list compatible parts if you put in year, make, model. monroe.com.

The previous owner gave me the stock springs, but upon adding up all the other parts in addition to the 4 struts, the quick struts are really cost effective. Plus, I wouldn't have to deal with a spring compressor. I have 4 new tires that I also need to put on, I just want to do the suspension first so that once I take the Max to get the tires installed, I can get the front aligned at the same time.

I should also note that I drive this car maybe 2000 miles a year. I ride public transportation to work, and the longest drive it sees is when I go mountain biking on the weekends.

Your blown, OEM struts were made by Tokico for Nissan, and only used in the SE model. That, along with a 1mm thicker Front-Sway bar, is what Nissan means when they say the SE model has a "sport tuned suspension".

Tokico Blues and KYB-GR2 are essentially OEM replacement struts for the SE, although a little bit better. If you were to put them on a non-SE, you'd probably be loving the improved handling. Then again, if you were to put either brand on a SE with blown, 200K mile old struts, you'd be pretty happy there too.

TireRack 'em and go to a local shop.

All you need is Monroe part number 171461 & 171462 (front) and 171327 (both rears are the same).

The previous owner of my car had Monroe Sensatrac's installed. It rides smooth, but it's a bit mushy. I don't recommend them for an SE.

I want the car to ride like a Camry. I'm not interested in carving corners, or trying to get anything more out of it... I really just want to NOT cringe every time I see a bump or a set of railroad tracks.

I've driven Camry's. A Camry has a sportier ride than my car equipped with Sensatrac's. You'll be fine with Tokico Blue's.

So weird ...all the reviews ive ever read on Se's say they were McPhearson struts...(spelling). Nothing lists them as Tokico's..why is this?

McPhearson is the style/type design, Tokico is the brand. My SVT Focus I used to have had the suspension designed and made by Tokico.

Coilovers, that is all.
$1000 and will ride smoother than any option. with the benefit of good handling and height adjustability.

Blame your aftermarket springs for your fear of railroad tracks.

I suspect you won't see a lot of advice here on how to make your Maxima SE ride like a Camry. But good luck with that.

Rochester is right, the way to better the ride is not with shocks as much as springs.
And cars andwomen I am pretty sure the 4th get our the same as the 5th with the SE, different shocks and front sway bar

I would get either tokico blues or KYB excel G, new tophats and then bring all that **** over to a shop who will assemble your stuff for you for a nominal fee (perhaps $50) on their bench compressor.

Sensatrac take-off (easy struts) are NO BUENO! Then you can sell your lowering springs for a nominal fee ($100?) and be done.
