Shocks/Springs

I know this topic has been beat to death, but i could not find a previous post about it. I was wondering what shocks/spring combination would give the best ride while lowering my '01 Max 1-2 inches. Pointing me to the right thread would help too...

Get KYB AGX's and H&R springs. I am installing this combo on my 02 tomarrow, it lowers the car 1.4 in the front and 1.3 in the back. The KYB's are fully adjusable so you can make the ride smooth or firm and even in between.

That sounds bad! I was looking for something that would lower it a bit more in the front than in the back, and that sounds nice that the ride quality can be changed around. Can you change it after they have been installed, and how do you change it?

The front struts are 4 way adjustable, you pop the hood open and turn the screw to the desired level. The rears have a little **** that can be reached behind the wheel, the rears are 8 way adjustable. I am test fitting www.cattman.com 's prototyped AGX's, after I install them on Monday they will be for officail be for sale{if a goes well}.

H&R's are about 25% stiffer then the oem supension, that's real good considering the drop.

There a bit smoother(so I heard) but probably don't handle quite as well as eibach's.

I'll second that. TimWuMax's car with H&Rs was like buttah... my Eibachs are quite a bit rougher... I like it though.

just put inmy HR's yesterday

hard cornering feels much improved from stock but you wanna hear something funny?

I feel as if my HR's are actually smoother than my stock springs?
I always thought they might be a bit rougher than stock but that is not the case at all. My ride is more comfortable, corners real great, and looks a whole lot better without that gap in the wheelwells.

Still running on stock struts though.
I hope those KYB AGX's for 2k max and up workout alright.

bumping a super old thread, but what springs work best with OEM shocks. I want a very basic 1" or so drop (even looking drop)

H&R or Maxspeed, but be prepared to replace the OEM shocks/struts fairly soon especially if your roads aren't that smooth and the shocks/struts are already used.

stock old struts can not handle aftermarket springs...either save up and do it the proper way, or dont do it.

and why would you drop your car simply for the looks the point is to improve handling.

i dont mind spending the money, but most reviews ive read seem to point that the ride quality signifacntly drops. I dont want the ride to suffer too much with the drop. I put on rays touring rims from the 350, the wheel gap looks like crap!

well, i dont know how theride if. Just basing this off what i have read. I dropped my legend on konis and H&Rs and the ride was excellent and never bottomed out. If i could get something similar from illumnis or blue that would be perfect.

The Eibachs are fine as long as you dont live in the city.. like I do now.. That being said my I35 can boogy around corners as fast as a G35/G37. Check my sig for mods.

If you want comfort I would look at the H&Rs or possibly H-Techs.

If money is no issue, get some Tein Super Street coilovers. IMO, they ride as well or better than any strut/spring set-up and you can adjust the drop to make it as "level" as you want.

Agreed...Tien SS for handling & comfort. Just save up a little more and do it right the first time!

This is coming from someone that's gone through, H&R > D2 > S-Tech.
