Installed Progress RSB and WOW!

I just installed the Progress RSB I got via the Group Deal from Catman . I gave it an extensive road test last night, winding roads and highway. The improvement in handling is very noticeable. The cars holds thight through the curves and holds steady on the highway, even under quick and dramatic lane changes. My max is not a Formula One race car by any means now but the improvement in the handling dynamics is well worth the price through Catman. Install was very easy and I was done in under 1.5 hours, with the proper tools. Thers are a couple of install pointers on the 02-03's, so PM me if you have any questions.

Hello Kcowden,

If you don't mind me asking how much you paid for the RSB and what is the web site? Also I would like your "pointers" on installation. I've been wanting to increase the handling of my 2002 nissan maxima!
Thanks,
Steve

I got the RSB through Catman, check the Group Deal forum for the price. I don't have a digital camera, so pics will be a problem. There are a couple of good write ups on the "how to" section on the install.

Here is the one I used way back when the Progress/Cattman RSB was first released. It's a good installation guide.

I totally agree with you. I had mine installed from a friend of mine. The RSB I got was from a GD a while ago and didn't have the time to install it. My friend actually installed it. Took us/him 20 minutes! The dude knows what he's doing while I was sitting there looking at the brakets and stuff that came with it. When it was finally on, the handling was tight! Any questions, feel free to ask!

the diffirence with the RSB is like night and day.

like my friend says everytime she rides in it (partly making fun of my obsession with my car)
"it feels like we are riding on rails...rails biatch..rails"

That's good to know man.... enjoy it... I haven't gotten around to handling mods yet... but springs/struts are on the way and a RSB can't be far behind....

If you think the handling is good with just a RSB, throw in a drop and then you'll
see (feel) some handling. There is almost no body lean, phenominal handling (and this is a 4 door sedan!)

when i put my rsb in two weeks ago i thought i felt a good difference, but im really not sure. maybe its because i had to place the bushings and brackets all the way at the end of the bar to clear the e brake bracket, and that would make it on the softest setting?? any ideas??

Rides very nice, much better than stock. The Progress gives a nice even
drop, after seeing my car on these springs for a couple months now,
i'll never go back to that 4x4 stock look.

The FSTB and RSB were the first two "handling" mods that I did to my car over a year ago and could not imagine going without either now.

Installed the Progress bar on my 98 SE last weekend. The car definitely corners much flatter now, but in combination with Tokico springs and Illumina struts, the ride can be a little rough over uneven surfaces, like where one rear tire is riding over a rough patch, while the surface under the other tire is smooth. I'm thinking of "softening up" the RSB, in order to take away some of this harshness. Now if I understand this, I can soften up the RSB by moving the bushings under the axle in toward the center, and/or move the bushings on the sides toward the bend, allowing more of the bar to stick through?

Right now the brackets on the trailing arms are right on top of where the brake cable brackets bolted into the frame. The RSB instructions said to leave about 1" of the bar sticking out from the bushing, so that's where I put it, but that is exactly where the brake cables were mounted. I will need to leave a good 2" sticking out, or even a bit more, in order to clear the holes for the brake cable brackets. Either that or leave almost none of the bar sticking out. I guess I want to know for sure which is more "soft" before I go to the effort to relocate the RSB mounting points.

I mean, I don't usually bring up old ****, but this car NEEDS this if you hit the gas around corners.

If this came on the car from the factory (BTW... it SHOULD!) and IDK during routine maintenance and drove the car without it.. I would be scared. THATS how much of a difference this bar makes! Anyone thinking about buying one, just do it!

Also, The people at Cattman are REALLY nice!

Reading this thread makes me reminisce on the good ole days of first modding my car and how most every other thread was as valuable as this one to me as I started to learn my car and what I wanted for it. ahhhhhhh, the memories......
