Guestion about the keyless entry on 2002?

When I first purchase my Maxima, the keyless entry work as follows:

Hit the unlock the inside likes would come on and the driver door unlocks, hit it again and all doors unlock. No horn or outside lights flashing, nothing else but the inside lights coming on.

Hit the lock button the lights flash twice and the doors lock. NO horn.

Today I went to my car hit the unlock button, and the blinkers flashed once. Hit the lock button and the lights blink twice as usually but now the horn goes off.

Can anybody tell me what changed?

yep....i always wants the horn to go off so when i lock the car you have to hear the honk and if you don't hear a honk then it indicates some door is not locked.

Okay, that's the only one. Of all the 2K2 features, that's the one that I'm jealous of. Nothing else on that car makes me wish I had a 2K2...but now I'm out of control jealous.

The only downfall is that you can roll them down, but not up. And it only opens the front windows only. I wish there was a way to close all of the windows (including sunroof) from the key fob. I wanna you can wind up the fronts by inserting teh key into the door.

That's the feature I was thinking of adding with an aftermarket alarm sometime. I like that little gadget-like feature too.

My 95 max would roll down from the remote but it would not close the windows with the drivers door key!

auto lock?

Off the subject a little bit- is there a way to automatically lock all doors when shifting out of park? A lot of higher end cars allow you to enable this feature by hitting some sequence of buttons. Does the Maxima do this?

the doors AUTOmatically lock when you hit the button

Someone asked this question to the dealer and they said it wouldn't be possible or the amount of money to do this wouldn't make sense..then again we're talking about Nissan service so someone might be able to figure it out.

Before considering whether or not to try and do this mod, I would definitely check if the doors would unlock from inside of the car just by pulling on the door handle like Ford vehicles do. My Lincoln LS did the autolock thing and it was OK as long as there weren't passengers in the back of the car. Only the front doors would unlock when the door was opened from inside, to unlock the rear I would have to press the unlock button. If someone in the rear was too quick and pulled the handle while I pressed the unlock, I would have to lock and then unlock again, all while telling everyone not to touch the door handles.

It was a nice feature except for that.

I have had this on other cars AND GOD DID I HATE IT. If you live in that bad of a nieghborhood then MOVE!!! I had that feature on a Grand Am and it ****ed me off over and over. I don't know how many passangers banged their head against the glass as they tried to exit when the car was running. It was actually funny, until it happened to me.

I took it for granted when I traded in my '97 Max for my 2k that this feature would still be there. I mean...after all my '97 had it. I learned not to take anything for granted when it comes to Nissan.

Same thing when I traded my '96 GXE for my '00 GXE. But now that my 2K2 has it again I'm a happy pup.
