Strut Replacement for 2000 Maxima SE ??

I will be replacing both my front struts for a 2000 Maxima SE - auto. It’s a daily driver, with 155k on it.

I saw the Monroe Quick-Strut 171418 & 171419 on Rock Auto. What I have read, they seem OK for my auto ?? Or at least easier to install. Any other complete struts I should look at ?

My back struts seem fine, but boot covers are a little torn on the bottom.

Should I replace the back struts as well ??

How will it ride with new fronts & old rears ??

Thanks

Maxima Forum.

Now's a good time to get rid of the 4x4 stance and lower the car. You can likely find some used lowering springs on the forum somewhere and then simply replace all the struts. Do a search there is loads of info on spring/strut combinations.

Quick struts are easier and quicker to replace as you don't have to compress the spring and do further dis-assembly. As a daily driver, Monroe is a decent brand.

If the car has never had the the struts replaced before, you are longggg over-due. You will be so amazed at how much better the car feels when driving on anything other than falt, smooth roads. Replace all four struts.

Just like DennisMik said... do all 4 struts and while you are there make sure to look around and see how the rest of the suspension is doing... pretty sure your sway bar links are probably done by now...

look at the bushings... if those are cracked chances are the sway bar links are shot...

Note on my car there are front and rear gaskets dealer items. Spacers front strut insulators that go on the top of each strut. $ 67.89

Hello CT, how did the Monroe "quick-struts" work out for you?

I am considering to do the same on the rear of my 2000 SE, and would appreciate your experience and advice. How is the ride quality compared to the OEM? Was it as easy as they claim?

I just replaced the rear struts (fronts to happen this spring) on my 2002 SE with the Monroe Quick struts from Rock Auto. They are inexpensive and simple to install. Ride quality is a little softer than the OEM struts, but for a daily driver, they work just fine. The struts are complete with all new mounts, bumpers, bellows, and cushions, just bolt in and go! I would not use them if you are looking for a performance suspension for any type of racing, drifting, track type driving.

Hi

Well I replaced all 4 OEM struts with Monroe Quick Struts from Rock Auto on my car about 6 months ago and have put on 12k on them. They seem fine; ride and handling I think as good as when I bought the car with 27k on it !! My car had 155k on them when I replaced them, so anything is better than what I had. They came with everything. The only thing that you might need is 4 a top plate red ish gaskets from the dealer. I think it cost about 55 my car had them.
