Hi,

My driver's side mirror was vandalized and broken last night. I need to replace it, the paint is intact on the back side of it. If I were to buy a new OEM mirror, would I be able to swap the plastic painted piece to the new one? Or would I need to find a matching color? I've looked through and seen a few posts about it but I'd like to be sure before I purchase the mirror.

Most likely the tabs will break off when you remove the painted back cover. If they don't there's a good chance that the tabs won't lock into place in the new mirror.

Worst case is you have to get the back cover from the new mirror painted.

I bought a new after market (under $50 from Rock Auto) and had the cover painted for about $50 at an autobody shop. It matched almost perfectly
