weekend work

Spent the weekend working on the max. Changed the trailing arm bushings, changed all 4 struts, changed brakes all the way around, topped it off with a oil change. Rides just like the day I bought it. By the way those trailing arm bushings are a PITA!!!!!

Dude props for the trailing arms, I need to do em.

Did you take the whole beam off? or just remove them when it was actually on the car? How many hours do you think it took ?

Did you get any nice struts? or just oem?

I did take the whole axle out. Took me about 1/2 hour to take it out. Most people have problems with the trailing arm bolts, I got lucky and they just came undone. Personally I would not do this job with the axle on the car. As for the struts I just went with the KYB GR2's. The biggest time I spent doing it was taking the old bushings out.

I did my rear trailing arm bushings and I didn't take the whole beam out - but that's your choice. It is a PITA job - takes time but not really that hard. There is a write up that has great pictures - just so you know what you're in for.

Honestly I dont see how you could do this job without removing the axle. Once you have pushed out the center of the old bushing there remains a rubber like seal around the interior of the housing which would not come out for me. I had to burn it out as described in some of the write ups. The hardest part is to get the bushings out. Putting in the new ones is easy. Use a 1/2" x 8" hex bolt with two plates on each side and start tightening the bolt, it will pull the new bushing in.
