OBX Header Collector Hits Rear Motor Mount
I have OBX headers installed and ever since I've put them in I've had an occasional tapping noise. I finally got under the car today and found the collector on the rear header was against the rear motor mount. I've heard people have had this problem before and just grind a bit on the mount. My question is this...Is it okay to just remove the metal shield that's tack welded across the mount? Has anyone done this?
Here you can see the small rub on the corner of the shield where the secondary has been touching.
Not entirely clear as to the purpose...Maybe a heat shield for the exhaust? If that's the case, should I just leave it be?

Yes I did it, no problem with doing that luckily I had a Sawzall to cut it off or else header install would of been a no go. After cut that shield off the Cattmans just slipped on like a Glove....

Lol, I've read plenty of people who've ground a relief into the corner but not remove it completely. I was more concerned with the heat from the pipe causing damage to my ES mount. But it would be hell of a lot easier to re-install that mount without the shield in the way.
