I bought this a 2002 Max not too long ago but the previous owner claimed that he had the motor and tranny swapped from an '04 Max.

I pulled the tranny out this week to replace the flywheel and one of my buddys said I have the HLSD transmission.

I don't believe him, I think its open, so could you guys help me identify it as open or LSD?

Below is the Driver side axle input


And here is the Passenger Side Axle input

 

There should be a plate on the trans that says RS5F50V or A.

V is HLSD
A is open.

And I think that the two visible splines = HLSD.

 

put it in 1st gear... slide an axle in one side and turn it.. if the other splines rotate the opposite way its an hlsd

 

 

You can't see the bar in the middle - it is hlsd.
