Replacing all 4 brakes?

Hi,

I did this post in the brake section but since I've got 0 reply I decided to post it here also!

So, I recently bought an Infiniti I35 with 46 000km on it (a real deal, one owner, an old lady,...). It's an amazing car, but the brakes will need to be changed in the futur. I'm looking at my option to improve the braking power and I've seen a lot of options for the front, but for the rear...

I did a lot of research and I realized that the front is easy to do because the parts are almost the same, but the rear on the fifth gen has the hand brake with the caliper compare to the other cars with the hand brake in the disc.

My question is: there are so many people in this forum, I'm sure some people installed upgraded brake that aren't blehmco Z32 rear big brake or Fastbrake?

Also, I read about the Bias and I was thinking about installing something like the brake system of a G35 (front and rear) that won't mess too much with the Bias, but I would lose the hand brake... Does anyone did something like that?

Thank you very much!

Hi,
I just replaced all my brakes and rotors for my 03 maxima 6 speed.
I used centric rotors all the way around and akebono pads. really like the brakes now compared to the previous set up.
Just go with the regular disc and pads for the car. No need of any bigger discs unless you really need them.
The rear does not have much stopping power anyways. So you can go with regular stuff here anyways even if you upgrade your front.
Leave some money in case you need to replace the rear calipers. In my case they were seized. One symptom of seized rear calipers is that the parking brake will not work properly.
I ordered calipers from rockauto- powerstop red powder coated(separate part numbers for the 03 model if the production date is 2002 vs 2003)
akebono ASP815 for the front and ACT1008 for the rear (from advanced auto with 40% discount-using code TRT41)
centric rotors from amazon 120 series 42070 and 42059
Hope this helps.

If you want to upgrade then do the BBK up front. Will be plenty of stopping power. I just put hawk hps all around and it is just fine. No need to worry about rear. Leave it alone.

That is a solid setup. I have the same exact pads and rotors on my Max. I am still running OEM calipers.

+1 most people said it already.

Get good rotors and pads and it SHOULD be enough. I have brembo blanks and hawk hps pads which is pretty much as solid as you can go without breaking the bank, and it is a very solid setup. I am going to upgrade my brakes because I really like the spirited driving, and throwing my car deep into the straights before braking into the corner... but that is just me.. and I have a lot of friends with fast cars and I dont like getting left behind cause my brakes aren't good enough...

BBK options are endless - 6th gen Maxi to start and then up from there. Brembo's etc are available through different means and match them with stoptech rotors and Hawk pads and you have a mental braking system. Also to consider as an "easy" brake upgrade is swap in some stainless brake lines. That also firms up the brakes too!

Thank you very much for all your answers!

Is anyone ever tried to installed the Z31 87-89 rear brake? It uses the caliper hand brake, but with a 43mm piston instead of the 34mm and the rotor is vented, thicker and a little bigger!

It could be an easy swap, no?

It might be, but honestly focus your time and money on the fronts. They do so much more of the braking and usually are only the ones that need upgrading unless you are doing some crazy track racing.
