Wheel well rusted out. Fix suggestions?

Ok so I got a used 2001 Maxima AE (black) and as far as performance goes it's great. The body needs a lot of work though. The car has been keyed, through a hail storm, and as the title suggests, the wheel well is rusted. I'll try to post pics, but the rust covers about half of the wheel well and has eaten a hole in a part of it. I have done research on how to repair rust spots in general, as well as specifically as it pertains to holes. But do you guys have any suggests from personal experience (or otherwise, any suggestions are good ones).

You're going to have to cut out the rusted area. Find some metal and weld it where the portion you cut off was. Than put fiberglass over the new material. Grind the area down, sand, primer and paint it.

I have this same thing, is it better to just cut and weld or try to locate a new wheel arch?

^^^try finding one without some sort of rust. A good shop will be used to starting fresh with new metal.

Did you pay someone to do this, or did you do it yourself? It came out very nice.
