Dilemma, Iseeus with Precats (rattly/fluttery noise)

Good evening, I need the feedback from some experienced individuals,
my maxima is making a rattling noise, it is not consistent, but once it starts it gets worse.

According to my mechanic it is the pre cats on the downpipe connecting to the exhaust manifold.

So I did some research and reading and turns out I can purchase an aftermarket y pipe that deletes the cats, or a downpipe/headers combo.

Does anyone have any experience with the following, and would anyone offer some input, comparison or recommendation?

Thank You.

WHAT IS THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO:

WARPSPEED CA Y PIPE
http://compare.ebay.com/like/300588893586?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar
WARPSPEED FED Y PIPE

Should I just get the following:

MAGNAFLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTER

OBX RACING EXHAUST MANIFOLD (HEADERS & DOWN PIPE)

M2 PERFORMANCE HEADERS AND DOWNPIPE

OR should I get an oem aftermarket replacement from rock auto

also,

what is the difference between the following and the above? I assume they don't replace the same components.

MAGNAFLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTER

Well the first question i have is what year is your maxima? I'm guessing from what you posted its either a 2000 or 2001

For the warpspeed pipes you posted the Fed spec one is for a 2000 only Federal emissions maxima so thats the only year you can use that y-pipe for the 5th gen.

The california spec one you posted is for California spec vehicles from year 2000 to 2001.

Since your precats are what the issue is if you have a california spec maxima then the Y-pipe is useless for you since on the california spec you still keep the front precat where as federal spec maxima it deletes both,

If your maxima is a 2001 then there is only california spec since 2000 was the last year for the federal spec option.

So if you have a california spec your options is headers, cattman or obx or Buy the california spec y-pipe and hollow out you front factory precat either with a hammer and chisel.

As for the final questions you had if your city / state has emissions testing then don't get the testpipe since it removes the main rear catalytic converter so you will fail emissions easy. If your state doesn't emission test then cat or test pipe will work. I suggest a magnaflow catalytic converter.

I would think he has the 2002-3 but whatever. I have the same issue. This is a know issue on 5.5gens a lot of members here have it. There is also a lot of debate over what the issue truly is. Back in december, I had the cats changed and they cleaned it up, and voila, no more rattle. So it is the cats so I would say. I would recommend the warpspeed y pipe followed by a cattman exhaust. Of course the exhaust is extra, but the sound is gonna be nice.

SORRY, I did not clarify guys/girls.

I have a 2000 Nissan maxima built in 1999.
How do I know whether I need a CA or FED Y Pipe?

I did some research and a lot of people complain about the WARPSPEED shipping time as well as the performance improvements.

I was planning on upgrading to headers at some point so I guess this is the time to might as well get it over with.

I am actually considering the,
CATMAN Y PIPE,
THE OBX HEADERS DOWN PIPE combo
or:
the M2 Performance HEADERS and DOWN PIPE COMBO, however I have not read any reviews on this one, any feedback? Supposedly it is supposed to be made by MEGAN RACING.

In the front of the engine, there should be some plugs that go horizontaly in a line, two plugs means its a Fed emissions car, four plugs means its Cali emissions.

or just look underneath the car from the driver's side...if you see the main cat between the driver and passenger, with a wire coming out of it that's a FED spec maxima
