This particular problem can turn out to be quite a pain sometimes, so good luck and hopefully yours is just gonna be a simple fix.
P0500 code = Speed (Revolution) Sensor Malfunction;
The sensor is mounted on your tranny (drivers side). Most likely, that's your problem if you're only getting the P0500. Replace the sensor and should be good to go.
BTW, often times people install new clusters and have this problem. Often times the problem is fixed just by re-seating the cluster and going thru + re-checking all connections. So perhaps you don't need a new sensor at all. I would try to do this first (check all connections w/ multimeter also) and then do the sensor if needed.
BTW, why would you replace the awesome nice looking SE gauges with the plain black/green look of the GLE ones?

Search the 4th gen section for that same code there a few write ups about repairs that have worked for people.personally I fixed mine by taking the speedo our and reseating all the screw/ground connections.
how can it be the sensor when my old one worked on the car only reason I was changing my is because my miles stop showing so I found one close mine do you think the speedo is bad
