Value of my 2000 Maxima?
Value of my 2000 Maxima?
I'm going to sell my 2000 maxima auto right now, because I would like to get a 2000-2003 5spd/6spd maxima. I'm just not sure of the value my car is worth, so could you guys give me an estimate of how much my max could go for!?
Good:
Car has almost new BFGoodrich Tires
Tein lowering springs
No check engine light
No motor knocks
Dual powered and heated leather seats
Sunroof
Air-Bags in steering wheel/dash, along with air-bags in the driver and passengers seat.
A/C works
Tinted Windows
Bad:
Dent on the drivers side back fender *fixable*
Cracked Windshield
Passenger window motor is slow

Looks like a nice clean car, obviously we need the mileage to really come up with a rough selling price for you.
Here is what I see so far. The good things = looks clean inside and out, paint is in decent shape for the year, fully-loaded w/ leather + heated seats and all that, new tires, no CEL. And hopefully everything works well like it's supposed to.
The bad = lowering springs (depending on buyer, average person may not like lowered car), the rear panel dent, the cracked windshield, slow window motor, black wheels (again depending on buyer), the trunk is definitely gonna be a problem for most people, the nismo badge, the non-existent spoiler that people might look for on an SE, and the aftermarket exhaust that people may not like.
And last thing, and this one is REALLY important. If you're truly interested in selling the car, you really should TAKE THOSE CHRISTMAS TREE AIR FRESHNERS THE **** OFF OF THERE! I'm dead serious and I **** you not those Christmas trees hanging on your rear view are enough to turn away most people I know and make them run FAR away. And I know many people will concur with that.

The bad will really limit your target market and make it a hard sell.
If the car was totally stock you would have a much better chance of selling it for a fair price.
Alright, now we're talking. Like the ^^^ post above said, your mods will definitely limit your target buyers and be harder to sell.
Here is what I'm thinking (I've been looking at used Maximas every day because looking for a 2nd Max "for my lady" which really means for me to drive LOL)
1. You'd probably be rather lucky to get ~ $3000-4000 in it's current state. I've seen 5th gens w/ only 60-80k miles, fully loaded, both 4AT and 5MT's, in great shape one-owner going for $5000-6000.
2. If you remove the mods and make it as clean and stock as possible, then you might be closer to $4000 maybe even $4500. But a perfect condition 5th gen, exactly the same car that I have actually but w/ 5MT just sold here at local small dealership for $5900, and that car was one owner in PERFECT condition w/ 80k miles.
You can judge off those numbers, but I would recommend going on cars.com and autotrader and just looking around at used Maximas in your area, because prices vary a LOT by where you live.
I would recommend searching far and wide, get a good idea on prices and compare your car to others, and really taking off at least some mods will help you out greatly. Good luck!

I doubt over $3000 by much. Pretty sad how low out resale is. I sold a 95 saturn with no options (manual steering, manual trans, manual everything, no a/c) for the same amount that it seems like people are getting for their 5th and some higher mileage 5.5 gens loaded.
Also, the 5th + 5.5 gens actually have a huge advantage over the 6th + 7th gens because they are known to be good and are sought after. So their resale is pretty damn good, if you have a car in good shape of course. A perfect condition + fully-loaded 5th gen with around 65k-80k miles can be sold for $8000-9000.

Here in New England I'd be lucky to get $2000 for my 2000 Maxima SE 5 speed with 185K. Also, it seems like the more mods the better, since that's the first question I'm asked every time someone contacts me about my car. So it definitely does differ depending on where you live.

Also, yes there are quite a few suckers around here and frankly just about anywhere you go.
dealership is a different story, prices at a dealership at this point in a car's life (10-11 years old for a 5.5) the dealership price is like 150% of private party. No doubt a dealership might get $8k for one, I remember when I looked at G35s for a month the same basic cars (condition, color, etc) listed at $25k at a dealer were $17,500 private party
I sold my 2003 Maxima SE back in 2011 with 86k on it, for $3,500.. it was in great shape too..
So by looking at your car its probably worth somewhere in the 2k region, but maybe you could get upwards of 3k for it. and like the other guys said the black rims and that black trunk with nismo badge, also the fact that it is lowered could seriously make it harder to sell

Yeah, there was a 5th gen AE 5MT recently over here up for sale, they wanted $3000 and the car's exterior looked to be in great shape from the pics, one-owner vehicle w/ 100k miles. No interior pics though, so whatever I decide to go look at it because I would instantly buy it if it was a good car for that price.
Long story short, interior was ruined (no wonder they didn't post pics), a pig must have owned the car because there were coffee stains and food stains on the seats, cigarette burns, etc. The car was also completely bare, no features, cloth seats, etc. And finally, it had quite a bit of rust in the engine bay, AND after looking it over I came to the conclusion that the car wasn't maintained at all, it was probably lucky to have seen an oil change or two in its 100k miles.
So yeah, at those prices (around $3000) it's almost impossible to find a good car. You might get a decent, high-mileage car, but not a GOOD car.
Holy ****, should have sold it to me.
That's a crazy low price, WTF! The DEALERSHIP just offered me $4500 TRADE-IN for my car, which is a VQ30 w/ 80k on it now. That makes you a complete moron, and a horrible salesman. You basically ****ed yourself dude, and whoever bought the car from you got a sick awesome deal.
I just don't get it where you guys are coming up with these low prices, I mean WAY low. And I know location matters, but upstate New York prices aren't that much different on cars compared to cars from VA for example, I grew up in Brooklyn NY and even in the city the prices aren't that much different.
Seriously, bring your cars to me, I will sell them for you! No joke, I would get you guys some good money for your cars, instead of a measly and crazy low amount of $3500 for a damn VQ35 w/ 86k. Perfect shape 5th gens are going way above market value nowadays because there simply is so few of them, and people do look for the 5th gens all the time, simple supply and demand.

I thought I got a good deal on mine, turned out I was wrong. The first thing I had to do before I could legally drive it was, get new sheet metel welded on various parts of the underside of it, $650 later. Not to mention the whole exhaust system was completely rusted out, so I had to invest in a new downpipe, Y pipe, and catback exhaust, $1,000 dollars later. This damn car better last me a few more years.
Here in Houston, 3000-3500 take your pick. Mods kill resale. I needed a soccer dad car, so I bought my 02 damn near perfect SE for 3000 cash. There were like 5 on CL for around the same asking price of 3500ish. Good cars for the money.
