Stock EXHAUST QUESTION

I love my Maxima and just want little more ponies like everyone else..

I have gutted the 2 pre-cats and thinking of removing the Main Cat and putting in a test pipe or straight pipe.

1. Would that give me a noticible difference at WOT or is the stock CAT high flowing alrady and be a waste of $$?

2. Would a better flowing Y pipe be more beneficial than removing a Main cat?

3. Also my main pipe right behind the Main Cat is squished by 50% and was wondering it that reduces the performance?

Thanks guys.

Stock cat is okay. Really wouldn't be a noticeable difference. A new y pipe is much better than test pipe for the main cat! The squish is the illustrious b-pipe crimp. It is very beneficial to replace at least the b pipe or just get a cat back.

What year Maxima? Will affect some options. Maintenance is always priority.

Lots of threads on best bang for the buck mods. It's known these engines love to breath. So, breathing mods are always a nice and simple place to start, like with intake and spacers. Breathing always requires exhaling, so gutting precats, test pipe, and new resonator section is certainly a decent and smart start before making further choices about more aggressive and costly mods.
