Rear Calipers

I replaced my rear calipers with rebuilds when I got my '03 GLE about 3 years ago at 43,000 miles. Now I have about 79k miles and I have to replace the rear rotors and pads. I remember that I think the rebuilds were Cardone's and they had a bored out indirect piston. Usually when I replace the rear pads, 99% of the time the rear caliper indirect piston is seized up or tight so I try to buy another set of calipers (though the present ones are autozone's with a lifetime waranty) and have them on hand in case I have to change the calipers before doing the brake job. Anyone have any experience with rebuilt rear Cardone calipers in the Northeast after a few years?

I hate to have to buy all the stuff to prepare to replace the calipers just in case and I don't have a second car or a close buddy to get to the parts store easily. Thanks.

Just make sure you have a friend on standby... You have a lifetime warranty, use it.

Yeah, problem is I don't have a close friend nearby. My next door neighbor was great till his wife cheated on him and dumped him and now he pays alimony for her to live with her boyfriend, but that is another story......

So I would have to buy a set of the rebuilt calipers ahead of time even though I have the lifetime warranty to have them on hand in case one of the calipers has issues.

Rent a car for the day...still cheaper than 2 new calipers. Do you live out in the boonies?

Dont need no extra person. Rent one of those hand vacuum bleeders from the parts store and bleed yourself.

I don't need a bleeder, I already have a Motive Products bleeder.
I just would need to buy an extra set of calipers just in case the present rebuilds seized up.

Really the whole point of the thread was to find out whether the rebuilt calipers have any better history in terms of seizing up after a few years then the oem calipers.

Looks like I will have to buy a backup set of calipers before I start the job just in case and return them to Autozone if I don't need them.
