DS Front Axle Question

Hey Fellas

My front Driver Side axle was deteriorating and when I did a springs and shocks upgrade I drove the car 1 block and the axle popped out. After inspecting the bad axle with the bent cv joint, I replaced the unit with a GSP aftermarket one. My problem is that the Axle wont lock into the tranny. My question is:

What is the part of the trans where the axle meets inside?

Kind regards

Also noted

The locking clip and pins are in place

I'm kind of freaking out.

axles on this transmission might be the most finicky thing ive ever dealt with. The only solution ive ever found is to keep spinning it from time to time and keep trying, it will go in eventually. Ive had this take anywhere from 2 seconds to probably about a half hour of constant frustration.

Grease up that snap ring on the axle and pop it in (not a gentle push) as straight as you can.

So after reading and trying to trouble shoot I found out the problem.

Maxie was made in 12/99 and is a 2000 SE model, the transmission is a 99, so no wonder the axle wouldnt fit cause the spines on the ends are different from the 2k model. I ended up buying a 99 auto abs locking diff and it matches the oem. I'll see what happens next when my mechanic installs. Has anyone had this problem with 2k models?

The axles for the 99 and a 2000 are the same. The axles for a VLSD locking and a non-locking differential are different.

precisely this.

anyhow, since you asked, the axles seat into the differential, specifically the side gears within the differential.
