Strong gas smell at startup

Very often I start the car I get a strong gas smell in the car to the point that I have to open the windows. I have no codes and the car runs fine without any smell past the start. I do have crappy mileage but I am attributing that to flaky upstream o2 sensors since i one had a code. It has since gone away.
Any ideas?

Remove the rear seat bottom cushion and you will see a round plate in the center. This is the cover to the gas tank fuel pump and sending unit. Take that plate off and see what you can see. Start the car while that plate is off and see what, if anythig, happens.

Yeah, pull the rear seat cushion and look at the large O ring. Just pick one up at the stealership and replace it. You could also inspect the fuel line coming off the fuel pump assembly.

That's a good question. Why don't you do some diagnosing and see if you can get some additional information for us?

Which is precisely why I posted to this board; for ideas where to begin.

You were given some suggestions. Follow up on them and then ask more questions if the problem was not uncovered.

Here is a suggestion, check the FSM and reply back once you look at your fuel sender assembly.
