2k2 Automatic Transmission question

My Max has about 1,800 miles on it now. I hadn't noticed this until about the 700-mile mark, but when the car slows down from a higher speed to a stop, right about at the 5 mph mark just before it comes to a complete stop, if my hand is on the shift ****, I can feel a little 'click' within the ****. Once at the complete stop, it 'clicks; each time I let my foot off/on the brake pedal. My feeling is it has something to do with all the tied-in electronic stuff going on between the shifter and the ignition and whatnot, but I really don't think I noticed this right off the bat when I drove the car off the dealer's lot.

Anyone else notice this? It's very subtle, but it's there. Can anyone tell me what it is?

could be the shift lock thing screwd up....you know....you have to press the brake to move the car from P to whereever...maybe that

yea, i can hear a click in my 2k1 when i'm in park and i put my foot on the brake, but i dont hear the click in other gears and when i am driving, but it sounds like the shift lock thing, have it checked out by a dealer.

My 00 GLE does that too when I step on the brake to shift out of park.

sounds like the shift-lock mechanism that is tied into the brakes. It should only be apparant when in Park though.... not in any other drive gear.

i have a click, too. it's not a defect. it's just the shift-lock.

Another 2K2 Auto Trans Questions

Mine brand new 2K2 doesn't click at all . . however, it only has 43 miles on it!

Quick question . . . a newbie to the site (just traded my 1998 Camaro SS for the 2K2 Max) . . . is there anything out there that will firm up the 1 - 2 shift? I hate the way it shifts - my only complaint with the car.
