Quick question Regarding Wheel bearing

Hi guy I have an 01 infinti 30 with 161,000 miles on it (In AZ) and recently when I was doing an oil change I kind of also checked if there is any play in the wheels and it turned out there is a play in 6-12 direction on the passanger side wheel.

Now here is my question, I have never heard any of humming sound from the wheel so could it still be bad?

Any comment would be a great help THX!!

Yeah, its only 6-12 direction. What could be the signs of a bad ball joint?

Had the same thing. No noise just play in 6-12. Tried to convince myself it wasnt the bearing but i gave in and changed the bearing and it is fixed. USe the timken bearings ( the national brand used to be made in japan but now seem to be made in china) And change the hub. If you can get the axle nut open then you can do it yourself.

To the OP, I would suspect the ball joint as well. When pulling at 6 and 12 look at the ball joint and see if that's where the play is, if not you should be able to see where else it is moving, and that is the part that needs replacing.

Hey knight, I thought remember you saying in another thread that the OEM bearrings used in the factory were SKF?

I can get those for around $45, but the first one I had pressed apart when I pressed in the hub and now after installing a second one I still have a fairly significant wheel shake, but no noticeable play in the wheel.

Should I suspect these bearings to be poor quality, or you think I need to loo elsewhere?
I recently replaced d. Side control arm/b. joint and p. side outer tie rod, as well as balanced both wheels.

That would be NSK which is a japanese company that makes high quality bearings including the timken ones which are stamped nsk and can be gotten at amazon for
$36

^^great thanks for the reply.

I also had someone suggest a CV shaft being the cause of this wheel shake, but to my knowledge it would clunk or him pretty bad when cold and turning sharply.
