Security light, no start

2000 Nissan Maxima with intermittent no-start. At first I thought it was a fuel related issue as the car would start and immediately die, if I continued to attempt to start it would crank but not start, tried a used press reg then a new fuel pump, used coils, snake oil. Then, one day it happened and I glanced at the clock, huh, security light is on? Hmm. I have after market chip keys and Nissan original keys too, but I use the a.m. keys in case they get lost its not so bad. So, I tried a different a.m. key I had in the glove box, it started, no security light. Retried the first a.m. key, it started too. Hmm. How could this be? It didn't work and now it does? Must be the car not the key, right? Off to the U Pull U Save in Lithonia, I get not one but two immobilization modules that go around the ignition switch and of coarse they won't work, security light, probably have to marry to the comp or something. Any one out there know anything about this and how to fix it? Thanks.

If your security light is solid on while you try to start the car then either you're using a key that's not chipped or does not belong to that specific car or you have something wrong with the immobiliser system.

If there's something wrong with the immobiliser, the car will crank but never start.

The light is not on with key in on position, usually what happens is the car will start and then die, the light will be on steady, continued attempt results in crank but no start. Rotating the key to off then back to on, security light is off, attempt to start repeats the same results. The keys are after market chip keys copied from an OEM Nissan key. The immobilizer currently installed is the one that came with the car when I bought it used five years ago. I think my daughter was using a OEM Nissan key when it failed to start before. I believe there is some problem with the immobilizer because fiddling with the key or trying a different key will sometimes resolve the issue and the car will start although sometimes it won't and she has left the car until the next day when just trying again it would start. I have bought two used immobilizer modules but they won't work at all at any time. I think they must need to be programmed or something, and that is the question, how to program the modules to work with this car?
