Can anyone help? Air conditioning question

I have a 2002 maxima and when the air is on and I come to a stop it goes into neutral. If I'm driving around 60mph or so it's fine. It drives fine without ac on so I'm at a loss.

wait, so the trans is going into neutral with AC on? AC has nothing to do with the gearbox, it does make the engine work a bit harder though

check to see if your FAN comes on... Your fan could be broken

Never heard of the a/c causing the transmission to go into neutral. Maybe the auto transmission is low on oil.

This really doesn't make sense unless there is some kind of short in the wiring harness but even that seems unlikely.

Have you tried this with other gears like 4th or even reverse to see what happens when you come to a stop?
