cabin noise

I remember reading something in one of these threads about wind noise in the new 2002.. I've been driving mine around for a couple of weeks, and I'm getting a annoyed at the wind noise in the cabin. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it myself, or should I complain to the dealer and see if they can do anything about it? Also.. I want to remove the rear deck spoiler from my 2002 SE... I wanted to get the GLE, but the wheels and suspension on the SE looked more attractive to me... how hard would it be to remove the truck lid and replace it with one without a spoiler? I'm also thinking of de-badging the back... any advice?

Go back to your dealer. There are TSB's on cabin noise which the dealer should fix.

I haven't experienced that wind-rush/cabin noise with 5k miles on the odo so you might want to have that checked out at the dealer.

And oh, might want to check that tire pressure as well. Incindentally i fixed my own "right-side-pull" problem by adding pressure to the tires. Apparently it came with less than 29 PSI when i got it from the dealer. I added some more air and have noticed quite a difference in handling and acceleration.

As for the spoiler, i would personally just recommend keeping it to add weight to the rear of the car... though it's far off it does help level off a bit the F-R weight ratio of the car.

If you haven't noticed, add more weight to the trunk and your car handles much better.

Took a look at it, but that's for 2000-2001 maximas... do you think the TSB will work on my 2002 Maxima? Its covered under the warranty, right? I don't want to have to pay for anything the dealer repairs.. especially since the car is barely 16 days old..

my 2k2 6spd has the cabin noise too, I mean noise compared with the Camry. Is it because Toyota installs some special materials to reduce noise or it is just because Nissan is too rough in driving comfortability?

My car also has that windnoise as well as the back panel rattle... i took it to the dealer and they said they could do nothing about it... the noise is due to the facct of a high drag coeificient because the doors close outside of the chasis.

It seems that sometimes certain problems take longer to become TSBs but after enough complaints they do. If the wind noise becomes a TSB for 02 Maxs, you will probably see it here first. The current wind noise TSB has to do with weatherstripping on the leading edge of the rear door's little window. I just had mine done and it makes a world of difference. Hopefully it will be addressed for 02 Max's.

it just takes a little masking tape and a test drive to see if that is the problem...read over the TSB that was posted -- looks really simple.
