clutch pedal sticking on floor

I'm new here and I have a 2001 maxima se which occasionally has the clutch pedal become squishy and then will stick all the way to the floor but will not disengage the clutch. The clutch system has no leaks inside the car or out. I have been told it is probably an internal leak in the master but I wanted some other opinions before I bought one. Any advice would help.

I realize you say the clutch system has no leaks even outside, but you might want to check again. One morning it suddenly happened to me on my 4th gen. Check the clutch/brake fluid reservoir for correct level. With me, the fluid had been leaking from the hose between the master and slave cylinder. It was wet and cracked somehow. IIRC, It required undoing 2 banjo bolts and getting a good dry one from a junkyard. This was at around 180K miles.
Hope this helps in a way

^^

Sounds like air is in your system.

Look over everything carefully.

I rechecked everything and still see no signs of leaking. It has done this once before a few months ago but a slight adjustment of pedal height seemed to fix it. I tried that this time but it did not work again. The reservoir is still full, not even down at all. I don't see how it could be air in the system if a pedal height readjustment worked once before.

I just had the same problem. I was told it was the pressure plate, but it ended up being the master cyl
