Shift Bezel Repaint???

Ok I had a 2k2 shift console and I swapped my trans with a 4th gen and the shifter rod is shorter then as the 5th gen tranny so I cannot drive with my 2K2 console anymore so I went back to stock and does anybody have any suggestions on how I can sand this and paint it to look fresh like the rest of the trim in my car? Paint numbers? Sanding? Anything to help thanks guys

After trans swap....

Went back to the stock ugly 5th gen boot

You could find that at a local salvage yard or look on car-part.com

Painting

Try to sand it with 3m 400 grit sand paper, until the surface is smooth , apply 3 coats of epoxy primer let it dry for 24 hours, smooth the primer surface with 400 grit sand paper with water.
With area , unable to smooth out, you can apply a thin coat of Bondo filler, dry it for 1 hour, coat the area with expoxy primer, dry it for 3hours , sand the area with 400 grit. Let it dry, apply a thin coat of vinyl paint let it dry for 1 hour, sand it with 1000 grit with water, let dry for 30 mins, then apply second coat, let it dry for 1 hour. Apply the last coat.

I sanded mine down and painted it. A year and 27 thousand miles later it still looks great.
