ICU imobilized if detached?
I've found a few conflicting references to this so if anyone knows for sure..
2001AE manual transmission with likely ECU/ IACV issues....
Q: If I remove ECU and detach it - does ECU then become immobilized from starting- the car.... if I just I open it then put it back in again?
I would then need a dealer reflash to pair it with the key.
I want to open it and see if it's fried...
Thanks!

Confirmed. Car still starts after disconnecting and reconnecting the same ECU.
Pulled the ECU (can they possibly give you less room to put a (8mm) wrench in?@!??). Yes component was fried. My route: Junkyard IACV and STA509A from ebay. And I'll solder it myself...
