O2 sensors/cat questions

Hi everyone. I have an 01 maxima with ~240km on it. I got the typical o2 sensor codes the other day (P0138/P0139/P0430). I decided to go the O2 simulator route, so I ordered a dual output o2 sim. My question is do I need to do anything to address the cat? I obviously went this route because it's cheaper... If the cat is plugged or something, should I cut it out or gut it?

Cats aren't required where I live, is there any reason to remove it?

Thanks!

you dont HAVE to do anything with the cat. If it is failing though you might as well delete it. Theres no use for a failing cat, they dont help emissions and only endanger your engine. The engine doesnt need the cats in order to run so you might as well get rid of it.

FYI if you live anywhere in the US the cat is required where you live. Its a crime against federal law to remove a catalytic converter from an on-highway vehicle regardless of whether you need to pass smog or not.

Thanks for the reply! I have read there are 3 cats (?), do I need to remove them all or just the main one? As with my jeep, does this just entail replacing it with a straight pipe?

I live in Alberta, and last time I looked this up I found a transportation of Alberta document explicitly stating that catalytic converter are not required.

Thanks for the info
