headlight trouble

headlight trouble

just started my 2002 maxima turned on the lights did the walk around like always and then noticed that the right headlight was very dim do you think i need to replace the ballast or the headlight bulb or both somebody please help

If it is very dim, and the color looks a bit different in the output of the bulb, it could just be an old bulb that is at the end of its lifespan. One quick way to check if it is the bulb, is to switch the bulb to the other headlight and see if it is still exhibiting the same symptoms. If the problem follows the bulb, it is the bulb. Having said that, it will most likely be the bulb, because of the way HID works (If there is not enough power to ignite the salts inside the bulb, then it won't turn on).
